Semhar is a passionate advocate for immigrant and refugee communities, with a deep commitment to adult education as a pathway to confidence, opportunity, and long-term stability.
As a former member of UFCW Local 832, she has been recognized for her work in promoting inclusion and equity within union spaces. She believes education can transform lives and has dedicated her work to helping newcomers access the tools they need to rebuild their futures with dignity.
She hates talking about herself, but can talk about politics, immigration policy, and justice for hours and somehow still make it sound fun.
